Is it worth my time to install my own bars on an 01 1200c?
Recently purchased my first bike. After putting about 500 miles on it I've decided I want higher bars. After getting a quote to get it done professionally I'm wondering if I'd be better off doing it myself. I know it would be time consuming. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

do it, nothing more rewarding than making it your own with your own two hands. get a factory service manual for your bike. I did everything on my bike from info that I got in some part from this forum. here's a before and after pic of my bar swap using info from these great guys and gals on here

best advice I can give you is plan, plan, plan. have everything mapped out for parts lengths and compatibility before you start ordering/ buying. heres a good thread that helped me greatly, at least with the beginning planning stages https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...tips-pics.html

Depending on which bars you chose, you may be able to buy a complete package, including clutch cable, extended wiring, etc that is needed to complete the job. Some bar makers don't do that, in which case take your time, to get the best looking results. If you decide to internally wire the handlebar switches, take special care, as we get a steady of trickle of problems arising from newcomers attempting that for the first time.
