Default 48 stock exhaust project!

I am currently running SS on my 48 and I'm wanting something different so here goes. I' going to see what these stock pipes will turn out like with looks, sound, and performance. I'll post pics as I go. Cut right behind where the baffle was welded in.
Removed packing and cut off the cat i assume.
Removed the baffle from sleave.
Drilled out larger holes in hopes of a different sound.
Weldeded back together.
Ground off the weld for a slick look.
Removed the paint and now ready to sand with fine grit. I am wanting to find a clearcoat that will hold up to the heat and leave them polished.

switch to a stock-ish stage 1 (slipons like) tune and auto tune from there to dial it in.

Beautiful idea.
OEM appearance.

Modified for tone and backpressure.
And that Catalytic Convertor...removed like a poisonous tumor perhaps.

Good luck in your project goals.
Let us know how the tone turned out.

VHT's Engine Enamel comes in a gloss clear. It's good up to 550°, which might be ok for those cans. They also have a clear in their Flameproof line, but it's a satin, not a gloss.

Nice job you're doing there!

Check out Thunder Torque Inserts™ for a better sound as well as a performance gain. They will deepen the tone of the exhaust a bit giving it a throatier growl. They also give you a gain in low and mid range torque.

Here's what we did with the stock exhaust on a 48-

Here's a LINK to the TTIs.

Yes sir! I run the TTI's on my SS with no baffles and it made a big difference in low end torque.
