2005 883 to 1200
So i'm thinking of buying a 2005 ..883 and doing the 1200 conversion.
It says I need an adjustable ignition module , couldn't I just buy an 1200 Ignition box and be done ? or because of the 883 heads the burn would be different? Probably been asked before .. But thanks in advance.

Exactly which 1200 conversion do you have in mind? Harley has a conversion kit which replaces the heads, cylinders etc and costs a bomb. Alternatively there are bore-only kits which are a darned sight cheaper and give excellent results. Hammer make a 1250/1275 kit which is very popular in here and is what I would use if and when I upgrade my 883.
As for your query about using a stock 1200 ignition module, don't. The ignition timing and advance curve is influenced by EPA regulations and to get the best out of your upgrade an adjustable unit is preferable. There is stacks of useful info on Hammer Performance's website and a lot of help available in here from existing owners.

It would have been half the cost probably if i had attempted the work myself but i wanted it done right. I appreciated the engine being inspected for any carbon build up and cleaning as well which i also wouldn't have had the means to do properly.
Basically i paid more to not have any headaches.

i think it was about $1800 CAD at a local shop. Worth every cent. Its such a fun bike now. I already had stage one done so it really performs well.
