Throttle/idle cable issues
The PO of my 2001 1200C had apes that I didn't particularly like, so I swapped to bars that are slightly shorter than stock. I first bought a stock length cable, but found it was still too long. I ended up purchasing these:

Which are a few inches shorter than stock. I cannot for the life of me get the throttle cable and idle cable connected at the same time. There is not enough slack available to connect the throttle or idle cable after the other one is connected. Am I missing something obvious or is it possible the cables are not correct for this application? I thought this was going to be the easy part of the handlebar swap.

Have you twisted the grip to try and get the idle cable on, then try the throttle cable? Make sure the adjusters are all the way in so no threads are showing before you begin. You also need to open the carb butterfly manually to get the throttle cable on after the idle cable is in place.
Otherwise, you have the wrong cable.
