Default fp3 iron 883 maps

hey there I have a 2017 iron 883 and just had a 2 into 1 thunderheader exhaust part number 1058b a k and n 90 degree intake part number 63-1126 and a vance and hines fp3 put on a month or so ago. well I had the folks at Harley put the stuff on for me and map my bike. the fp3 didn't have a specific map for this set up so they chose the generic brand typical 2 into 1 exhaust map with standard baffle and stock 883 engine. I enjoyed the fact this raised my rpm range before the vibrations started and it was much quicker. However it was skipping a jumpy coming out of 1st and into 2nd like it was missing or something not all the time but more than I'd like. so I called vance and hines and they had me change the map to vance and hines brand with the comp 2 into 1 exhaust set up with standard baffle and stock 883 engine this map has it coming out of 1st and stuff better but it lost the quickness and begins vibrating horribly at about 2500 rpms which to me is crazy low. so of the two I like the first one better however I will most likely auto tune so my question is does it matter which base map you use before you do the auto tune or anyone else have this set up and can give me any pointers on their maps.

Congratulations on a great bike! I've owned two 883's over the years, an 1982 and a 2017. Although the 17' is much improved, they both still share some common limitations. If it were me, I'd return to the first "generic" map, and auto-tune from there. The auto tune can be a long process so check the directions carefully. Beyond that, not knowing your prior riding history, you may have expectations that are overly optimistic for an 883. It is a cruiser, not a sport bike, and what it lacks in quickness is more than made up for in excessive vibration.:-(

How many miles has it done? I am a born again biker and have to say in respect to vibration Harley's are not refined but as the miles on my bike increased the vibrations seemed to go down. There is a spot where resonance is highest but a few more rpms and it goes away.

Yes do the auto tune. It is not a quick ride up a main road however and whilst doing it the bike may feel strange.

I found a very good write up on the auto tune by googling, there are a few. It entails trying to hit the full rev range under differing loads. I had my phone hooked up so I could see the table whilst riding.

I notice you have changed the air cleaner but the map is for a stock engine. Is that correct or have you chosen a map for a free flowing air filter as well as the exhaust. i.e. a stage 1 map?

Use the auto-tune function to dial it in a little better. Generic maps are a starting point nit the end of the story. A few auto turn funs may some out the jumpy behavior and bring back the responsiveness you are looking for.
