RE: Need some technical advice BAD!
tm1963, you may want to check out the forum page titled (Fuel/Carb related), it'll have a bunch of tunning methods pressented as well as pics. And yes 3 turns is too much, Generally it should be in the range of 1.5-2.5 turns out. Also looking for carbon on the exhaust idea won't work either, as even a really rich running bike ussually won't show any signs of excessive carbon on the pipes until a decent number of miles are ridden on it. So like I said check out the keihin carb tunning methods and try those and see where it gets you.

I started at factory setting, went in and out. This was where the smoothest idle and most power occured so I left it right at 3 turns and adjusted the idle.

Oh yeah, do you have high flow a/c on too?? or just the pipes only? If the idle seems best at 3 turns out, and if done properly, means that your pilot is too rich. And if you didn't put a highflow a/c on, then this could be likely, and you may want to try putting the 42 jet in again.

See thats what is confusing,I had the same problem with the 42 and the 175. All the changing I have done and the adjusting hasn't changed the busting up from 800 to 1800 rpms only when the engine is hot , it still runs great when engine is cold. I went back to original everything at one point and all the problems stayed the same.

Did you make sure to adjust the carb after the bike is fully heated up. If not I suggest taking it for a short 10-20 minute ride, then tune the carb. Try setting the carb after the bike reaches the heat level that it starts acting up and see what happens. Also it helps to put a large fan on the bike while doing this to maintain a good operating temp, otherwise with a fully warmed up engine, it will start overheating fairly quickly if there's no airflow. It's not defastating overheating, but enough to throw off your carb adjustments. Also, i don't think you mentioned it yet, but have you looked at your plugs yet?
