New sportster only firing on one cylinder
Good afternoon. Last year I bought a 2006 1200 low. It was in December on random out of place warm but stormy day where I managed to get the thing home before a huge rain storm. I recall the bike running a little puttsy but i own a fz09 so I brushed it off as me not being used to a noisy less powerful bike.
Fast forward to today. It’s still cold in Chicago but we got some rain and roads are salt free. I had to run to the hardware store so I decided to putz there on my sporty and ring in the bike season. I cranked it a good bit before it finally turned over and let it get good and warmed up. When I went to pull away I stalled it. Odd. I restarted and removed my glove to feel the oil filter and cylinders. The one nearest the forks was good and warm, the one closer to the rider, cool to the touch.
I am a mechanic, I have a good idea about how I am going to go about testing this. I am occupied with house work so I can’t work on it right now. I quickly swapped the plugs and confirmed it is not a bad spark plug, no power is getting to the rear cylinders plug/wire.
My question to you all in your wisdom, do these ignitions ever fail in a way where it only energizes one plug? I’ll also note that both plugs were barely tight in the cylinders. Check over newly bought bikes boys and girls, previous owner might be a ding dong.

The wires look to be in good shape, as does the whole bike. I did not drain the gas, previous owner said he put stabile in it. The cylinder that is firing had much more contamination on the plug than the one not, I am inclined to believe this was occurring for a period of time

Bad news? I tested the coil per the information you posted (thank you). The coil meets all of those specs, therefore it is working correctly. So now we continue the search.....

I will confirm if I am getting 12 volts at the coil. I’m also going to crank the bike and see if my test light turns on and off at wires A and C
I might fold and buy a new coil. Despite the resistances all being in spec it may still be bad. ECM issues seem to be sporadic and after the bike is warm and ridden a bit.
