Default Camshafts for my 883

I thought about putting different camshafts in my 2004 XL883 custom ,it has the Stage 1 screaming eagle package. I thought about trying a set of 1200 cams? What's your suggestions

I believe they both use the same cams.

IIRC, the carb'd rubbermount bikes 04-07 used different (D) cams in the 883 vs (W) cams in the 1200.

You can install the W cams in an 883, but I believe you'll need an adjustable ignition module like the TC88A to make timing changes.

Yeah my 883 has W cams but its fuel injected. I guess when they went to FI they both use the same cams.

Waste of time! Put a 1200/1250/1275 on it. Cams in a stock 883 won’t do a darn thing for performance.

You are correct, but it wasn't the OP's question.

Changing cams on the big twins is common and there are countless options available. That isn't so for Sportsters, the options are very few by comparison. There are other ways of improving performance, if that is what you're after, as Madnss suggests. A Hammer 1250/1275 kit would be my preference.

I agree about the Hammer kit, and it's probably easier than changing the cams if you're thinking about that.
