Default Chopping a rear fender for an '04

Looking to put a chopped fender or make one from a trailer or something similar. Relocating my brake light to my sissy bar. Anyone done this? I took a loose measurement and got 8" from fender bracket to bracket.

Why not just chop the one on there?

Practice makes perfect, I'd like to keep the original tins as they came if I need to revert the bike back to stock when and if I sell it.

Easiest and cleanest thing to do, IMO, would be to add a Run-Brake-Turn module for the rear signals and just remove the tail light. Your signals would then function as running lights and brake lights.

Maybe scour eBay to see if you can find a factory take off fender to chop then.
