Default Thunder Torque Inserts cracked pipes?

I'm considering the TTI with the Rush slip-ons I'm putting on my 2012 XL1200C, but I've heard they crack your pipes. I'm not wild about having to drill into brand new, quality slips-ons.

Any experience with this, much appreciated.

I wouldnt worry about it. Make sure you drill the proper size hole with a sharp drill bit and dont force the bit. Then...Debur the hole well. If you can debur so you have a little chamfer on the inside and outside of the hole this will eliminate any stress risers and lessen the chance of cracking.

If you have Rush slip-ons... why do you need the TTI's?

My stock slip-on's cracked twice on each one. I did drill a smaller hole than what the instructions called for and did not debur the holes as awilson40 stated. Kevin from DK says they have many customers that have never had them crack but mine did within about 1000 miles each time. I may have over tightened them as well but they would end up turning otherwise. I was thinking about trying them again on my current pipes and have them ordered but I'm still nervous about them cracking again. I'm gonna follow the instructions this time and use a 3/8" drill bit and I will debur the holes and hopefully that will help. See post number 36 and on. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...ortster-4.html

You know how these TTI's work and what they propose to do? No?

They sell them. What do you expect them to say.

Well all I know is they do exactly what DK says they will do and that is increased torque in the low and mid range and it is a very noticable increase. That's why I'm trying them again. Once I replaced my stock slip-on's with the Straight Shots with no TTI's the loss of low and mid-range torque was very disappointing. That's just my experience with them anyway.

They get some torque back when you have taken out the baffle or are trying to run drag pipes. A good set of baffles will help more. I have no use for them.
