Question Sportster Mustache Guard

So I have mid controls on my sportster and I love them but I'm thinking of adding an HD mustache guard style highway bar so I can stretch out a little bit more on the long rides. I'm hesitating because I love the narrow the profile of the iron, so my question is can I comfortably rest my feet on the bar without adding pegs to it? Or am I better off just switching to forwards or extended mid controls?

I have mids with highway pegs and love it. Def helps on the longer rides so I highly recommend it. Either highway pegs or a crash bar will look better than the mustache. I like the hwy pegs because you can flip the pegs up when not in use and they pretty much disappear.

I have the Mustache bar on my 2016 Superlow, You can get universal Highway pegs that will clamp on the bar. Thats what i did, Works well and like others have said the swivel out of the way when your not using it.

I would say depending on your height. I installed a Mustache bar on my Roadster from new and with my short legs the footrests were useless. I say 'were' as they are no longer on there after I installed the adjustable highway pegs from Harley. I was going to remove the mustache bar but decided I will install auxiliary LED lights on it instead. The adjustable highway pegs are less expensive also. Hope this helps, John

Do you have a pic of the auxiliary lights on the mustache bar?

Thanks all for your insight. I’ve seen the bung king crash bar and I really dig it but it’s so damn expensive! 😡 Anyone know of less expensive options like it?

yeah they are pricey but the perk is that they have been designed real well length wise and the ends won't dig into the ground on initial impact. You could take the style to a local shop and see if they an make you a custom one? Or call bung king to see if they can hook you up with a discount.

They have great service, you can get it powder coated in different colors for a bit extra if you want as well.

If you are wondering how it might look on a sporty I have a video on youtube with it on. It would be even more subtle of a look if black.

Key word is 'will', I have not purchased them yet. Waiting until the Montreal Motorcycle Show to see what they have for lights, helmets and who knows...
