I wouldn't want to trade my sporty in. However, I was more into the rockets before buying my '00 sporty, and I almost add a rocket to my stable last year. I was and possibly still maybuythe '06 Yamaha R1LE. The LE is for"Limited Edition". They were only selling 500 of them in the US for the Yamaha's 50th Aniversary in theYamaha "Old School" yellow and black colors with all kinda of racing technology on'em. Igot a chubby when I read 0 to 60 in 2.25 seconds. But I bought an '06 Yamaha Kodiak 4504x4 for hunting instead.[8D]

I traded in a 2003 883 (converted to 1200) sportster for a Buell Ulysses after I'd owned the sporty for 3 years. O.k. the Buell handeled better than the sporty, was faster ( I usually ended cruising a gear lower at any given speed on the Ulysses) stopped better & was a helluva lot more comfortuble for my wife on the back.Onedownside was it was too bloody tall, I could only just get the toes of one foot down, not the whole of even one foot. This led to some very dodgy moments when I had to stop suddenly got caught out on the wrong footby the road camber. The other downside was it wasn't a sportster.
Last month (after 18 monthes& 12,500 miles) Itraded it in for a 2007 883R & my wife's bought another 2007 883R for herself. I can now get both feet flat on the road again. bliss! Its great to be back on a sporty & although I enjoyed the Buell I wont go back, build quality ain't the same as a Harley & I had 3 recalls on dodgy parts in the time I had the Buell. The seat pan was rubbing away at the top of the rear rockerbox & chafing at various wires running into the ecm. The fan that cools the rear cylinder had to be replaced under warranty at 5,000 miles (bearings had gone) & I went through 2 mufflers (rusting away).

If you are thinking ofa trade I recommend trying one of the earlier tube frame models (OK Im a little biased) They are physically larger in feel, and have a bit more of an aggressive'presence'on the road (And I think a red one would be perfect[8D])

thought never crossed my mind to give up my Sportster for a rocket, when I first went bike shopping instead of the Shadow I was looking at a GSX but seriously thought about my knees being bent all the time and they got sore just thinking about it.Hence the forward controls on both my bikes, I passed on a 750 Shadow for a 600 because your legs are actually stretched out moreI also wanted a 883R model but went with the Custom for the tank and forward controls[8D]
Now I'm thinking in a couple years I may get a Softail Custom so Dawn and I have a little more room to ride together but can't swallow a $9k price difference for a couple inches[:-]Here is to hoping I can get Dawn to ride her own still, she didn't like the Sportster much but likes the Shadow height alot better so I am praying she does so I can take the couch of my Sportster! Love my seat though!
