Check the engine oil in your bike?

I think its a pain in the $ss to check, with that pop up dip stick, never seems to line up when closed, feels like it could break easily too.

I started off checking it every 100 - 200hundred miles, but now I have a better feel for consumption, so now it's every 400 - 500 miles.

Weekly. You can burn a quart in a 1000 miles.

If I was going through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles (even with an EVO engine which naturally consumes more oil than the TC's), I'd be checking for leaks, swapping out oil seals, or finding out what was going on..

Well I just got the owners manual out to make sure I was checking the oil properly and with 900 miles sense the last change, I don't ride it hard, oil level checks out, right where its supose to be.

I guess If I had to add a qt to bring it up to full I'de consider just changeing it.

I called Harley JW, They said it's normal to burn a quart in a 1000 miles.

Harley says everything is normal. They don't like doing warrenty work.

They might say that to 'cover their ***', but that isn't normal..

My 2005 1200C was using much less than a quart of oil between 2,500 - 3,000 mile oil changes.

If an engine is using a quart every 1,000 miles (even an EVO) something is very wrong, and I could care less what Mr. HD says.

Usually about once a week, when I check the air in the tires.
