Every gas fill up. Just an easy reminder to do it.

I called Harley JW, They said it's normal to burn a quart in a 1000 miles.
They might say that to 'cover their ***', but that isn't normal..
My 2005 1200C was using much less than a quart of oil between 2,500 - 3,000 mile oil changes.
If an engine is using a quart every 1,000 miles (even an EVO) something is very wrong, and I could care less what Mr. HD says.
What! Dallas, look at the good side of your situation. At your bikes oil consumption you'll never need to do the 3000 mile oil change... Better listen to OFG on this one...

Everytime I buy gas, when I return from the ride I check the oil, while the engine is still hot. Tire air pressure is the one I always forget to check. [sm=chairshot.gif]

This is a good solution for the PITA factor due to the popup dipstick.

Good Point.

If you were using 3+ quarts of oil every 3,000 there wouldn't be much point in ever doing an oil change, as you would always be running 'new oil'. [8D]

Well, I guess you could still go ahead and change the filter from time to time.

I check the oil before every ride. It might be a tad bit ****, but that's easier than a rebuild.

I don't check oil level but I do check oil leak before and after every single ride, if I see any sign of leakage, I check oil level, otherwise every week.
