Default Spark plugs

On a 883 Iron 2010 model, at what miles to change the spark plugs?

It's in your owners manual, which if you don't have one you can download from the H-D USA website, go to the Owners tab. For my 2011 Sporty it is at 20,000 miles or 32,000km.

My 2013 US model shows 30,000 miles (48,000km)

And adds - Replace every two (2) years or at specified intervals, whichever comes first.

whenever you want honestly.

you[r] owners manual and the service manual outline when to change them under normal usage. they disagree with each other though, by 10,000 miles. lol both are the prescribed bare minimum.

spec. 6r12 is the hd recco, there are cross reference tables out there for other plugs.

Thank you all.
I guess I will look at the condition and decide accordingly.

They must have updated the service manual in 2013, both my owner's manual and Service manual show 30,000 miles

New plugs with sharp edged electrodes need 25-40% less voltage to fire.

doesn't really matter honestly. those are minimums assuming that nothing has gone wrong or changes have been made to the bike. i'm pretty sure folks positively violate the recommended intervals on most of the service items on a regular basis. the fact that the recommend change period went from 20k to 30k when the 2007-2013 used the same parts kinda confirms that. so i think it's safe to say it doesn't matter as long as the 20-30k is not exceeded on change intervals.

i, usually, change my primary oil whenever i change my engine oil. i do that more frequently than the service/owners manual say to. no harm done. maybe plenty of money wasted though. pllugs are no different as long as you use anti-seize\dielectric and don't hamfist the threads by over-torquing the plugs.

I like this approach, gives you the opportunity to try different brands of plugs and see how the bike is burning the air/fuel mixture it's getting.

Cheers!

NGK recommends installing dry. I used to use anti-seize, but not with the NGK plugs on my bike and have had no issues. Of course, I also don't over tighten the plugs. I still use a bit of antiseize on the Autolite plugs in my Ford Ranger.
