You made a good choice. I’m on my 5th Sportster 1200 and have had no trouble.
Gear driven cams, change oil, plugs, tires , and adjustments. The most durable HD.

And...clutch problem. Went to bring it for the VIN verification. Swapped vehicles with my wife for the day, rented a trailer, went to load it. Rolled the bike out of the garage, trans in neutral, started it...put it in gear, and it stalled. Figured I had released the starter button too soon, so I hit the starter again (in gear, clutch in), and the damn thing jumped forward! Clutch is dragging...on a bike that was supposedly "fully gone over" by the dealer's shop! (And I was charged for said going-over.) Bonus: after exactly two attempts to start, the battery is dead. Bike back in the garage, called the dealer, they will pick it up and fix the dragging clutch (probably a cable) and the battery will probably be replaced. (I think it's original.)

Well, at least it happened in January and not June.
