Default Front fork springs installed...

Hello guys, I need some help here!!! I purchased the "Burly Slammer" kit for my son's 2006 Sportster and everything was well until I lowered the jack!!! I'm pretty sure I did something wrong when cutting the PVC spacers because there is practically no more than 2.75" of travel for the lower forks!!! We wanted to lower the front forks by 2" so we cut 2" off of the 7" supplied PVC spacers. Bike is now done but like said before there's practically not much for suspension to travel and afraid it will be "bottoming out" constantly. If someone can shed some light? Did I do something wrong??? As you can see, Pic.1 & 2 are the now lowered fork. Pic.3 is the stock springs.

Thanks!
Vickon

Did the instructions say to cut anything off the spacer?
just thinking with it being a slammer kit maybe the full seven inches is required.
When I did my progressives there was a chart listing how much to cut off the spacer but it was a "multi fit" kind of thing.
I just looked back at my install thread and I have 4 inches of travel with the new springs on my Roadster.

I think you're supposed to cut the spacers so that you end up with a certain amount of 'sag' (i.e. when the rider sits on the machine). This can be a bit tricky, but a must none the less. Having said that, the average 180-200 pound rider would, at my guess, be looking at shortening the spacers by 0.5 to 0.75 inches.

It is different length for different years and models.

My question is are you sure you had 7" to start. I would just put it back on the stand, take the fork cap off, and remeasure the spacer.
