Unfortunately, on some Sportys, the brake pedal arm will touch the floorboard mount.
Kevin-
The Wife's sporty has the pedal like harleyrider4300 has...its a 2011 XL1200L. Will the floorboards work on that or is it one of the Sportys that has the issue with the install?
What and were would I get the rod replacement and extensions? What should I be searching for? So far I haven't found anything for a brake rod...
Any help or guidance is appreciated!
As Kevin mentioned, J&P is a good source. The rods in the pic are shift rods that can be used as adjustable brake rods with the correct length and thread screws....but the rod length was not the issue.
When trying to resolve my issues with Kevin at DK he suggested a few things, one of which was to shave some metal off the pedal which probably would work but did not want to mess with the pedal since it would reduce the integrity of the pedal and may increase risk in my opinion.
I am sure you figure a way to install the floorboards with proper brake lever height. Different pedal or a different mount or a combination of both may work....but I just didn't find one that would, but that is just me.

If your wife's Sporty has forward controls, like harleyrider4300 and the pic below, then the floorboards will install with zero issue. Might take about 10-15 minutes.
Why HD do not make the brake rod adjustable I don't know, they do it for the gear change.
Why not do it for the brake lever as well....would love to be able to lower mine slightly sometimes
As LoneWoolf mentioned, it is probably to save $.
When we intro our new brake arms later this year, we will also be introducing adjustable brake rods.
So in discussing with the Wife as to what she wants to do, it looks like she is wanting to go with forward controls...so the mid-controls issue is a moot point.
Thanks you everyone for the input!!
Now to find a good, reasonably priced forward control kit...

Wife's Sporty now has forward controls...installed last week and we went riding yesterday. I pulled my HD Mini-floorboards off my SGS (was using them as road pegs) and mounted them...she absolutly HATED them. We pulled up the DK website and compared a couple of the pictures, eyeballed rough measurements and she said she was very confident that they would work for her
So took the plunge and ordered a set of floorboards from DK...hopefully will get them before the weekend but who knows with UPS.
