Fuel pump not priming
Hello everyone, never expected to be posting in this sub-forum on account of I ride a Dyna, but several friends have recently purchased them so I have been learning what I can to be able to help advise them on their purchases and would like to be able to help them with troubleshooting.
I advised a friend to buy a 2009 XL1200 we found online, and now we have it in our possession. The previous owner replaced the battery because it didn't want to start, and it still doesn't want to. Made an easy bargain to knock the price down some more so he didn't have to pay someone to fix it. He was under the impression that his FI bike had a carb, made me smile.
But anyway, the bike was always garage kept, has 1,300 miles on it and is bone stock. Previous owner says it ran when it was last put away, and I have no reason not to believe him (looking at the title, it has only gone 110 miles from June 2010 to today). After doing some tinkering with the bike I realized that the fuel pump isn't priming, and after searching on this forum and others it seems that the usual suspects are the fuel pump fuse or the system relay going bad. I'm going to have him check those things tomorrow, but I was wondering what anyone else on here would recommend to check out just in case that isn't the problem. Is there any strong possibility that the fuel pump could have gone bad with such little use?
Thank you for your time!
