Default 48 won’t start with new tank

Just installed a new tank (how people make that stock 2.1 gallon peanut work is still beyond me) and big sucker air cleaner. Installs went smooth, but now the bike just cranks and won’t start. What’s the most probable thing causing this? Fuel line not properly connected?

Haven’t been riding for too long, please excuse the newbie question! Happy thanksgiving.

Sounds like the 2.1 tank worked pretty good after all.

Did you reconnect the fuel pump wiring? Is it priming (little orange engine light) when you turn the bike on?

Did you unplug anything else? Spark plug wires etc... double check everything.

Double check for a pinched or folded fuel line. Also make sure that the manual petcock (if equipped) is set to the 'on/flow' position (and yes, I've made this mistake with tanks that I'm not familiar with). Make sure that you have vacuum to the petcock (if the petcock is vacuum operated). If all of the above looks OK, then check for spark (you might even do this before checking the above). If no spark, then suspect the kill switch and/or shorted or disconnected coil wires, both primary and secondary.

What year bike makes a big difference, that answers questions like FI or carb.

I knew a mechanic that would put a screwdriver in the spark plug wire fingers on the shaft, elbow on the fender and have someone try to start the motor, not sure how he checked for fuel.

Disconnected/re-connected fuel line and started up right away!
Must have been the vacuum not fully there.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Hell no, it's way too small.
