The primary chain adjustment procedure is in the Owners Manual.

The tranny & primary share the same oil. The drain plug is on the bottom of the case. You can refill if through the primary chain inspection cover, much easier than pulling the derby cover and you will have it off anyway to adj. the chain.

The tranny/primary takes 32oz (1 quart) of oil. You can use 20w-50 engine oil or 75w-90 Gear oil. I use Mobil 1 75w-90 gear oil.

If your friend is lucky enough to have you do his work for him, I'd think he could at least order the service manual for you.

Just performed the 5k maintenance on my bike in the last couple of weeks. . Basically you unclip the oil drain line from the frame (near the jiffy stand) and remove the plug by loosening the hose clamp and pulling it out. Also open the oil fill cap on the oil tank to allow the oil to drain. Then remove the oil filter, replace it and reverse the process. I used 3 qts of oil (minus the 4 oz I poured into the filter). The tranny drain plug is on the underside of the primary cover. Simply unscrew it, clean off any metal filings and allow the oil to drain. Replace the drain plug, remove the primary chain inspection cover and, using a funnel, refill with 32oz (1 qt)of tranny oil/lubricant. I found it was easier to use the opening at the inspection cover instead of the derby cover opening - the Torx screws on the derby are T-27 if you decide to follow the manual and use that opening for refilling the fluid.

I've sent you an email concerning the service manual
