The Harleys are English and the Davidsons are Scottish, so H-D is actually British.....

Got family in Colorado! Demand picked up speed over here around the same time as it did in the USA, late '80s to early '90s and hasn't looked back. None of our dealers are anything like as big as your biggest, but they seem to be healthy and in good spirits. You left at the wrong time!

We're very discrete! When I bought my first Harley new, in 1974, we had just one Harley dealer here - we now have over 30, with quite a few that have fallen by the wayside over the years. During that time the UK was for a while the next biggest Harley market after the USA.

I have actually ridden my FLHS part way across southern England. While in the army I was stationed in Germany at the time ( early 90s.)
I took a ferry to ramsgate. I had a mantra that I kept repeating to myself. "drive on the left ,look right". The first intersection I came to was a round about. hmm no traffic but me..since you drive on the left ,should I go clock wise or counter clock wise. I went clock wise. I shudder to think of it today..It's damn miracle I lived thru it. ha ha
I had this spur of the moment brilliant idea I'd go some place where it would be much easier to understand the locals ! My first 5 minutes in a pub dispelled me of that notion. I thought at first I was loosing my hearing. I couldn't understand a damn word I was over hearing ha ha ha
I had a great time !

Time you popped over to 'old' Hampshire to see for yourself! Call in at Sammy Miller's museum while you're here.....
