Default looking for anyone who can modify a Sporty Fuel Tank

I'm in the planning part of my 1200R build and looking to have the tank stretched. Anyone know of a good shop I can send the tank off too??

As always thanks!

Good question! I can't give you an answer, but there are two ways to stretch a tank. One is simply to add extensions that don't alter the actual capacity of the tank, simply change it's appearance; the other involves open heart surgery, so gives increased fuel capacity and comes at a bigger cost!

Klock Werks builds custom bikes and may be able to help you. They are a few miles down the road from me and I know they are very reputable and do really good work. You could call or send them an email to ask. Their phone is (605) 996-3700, email info@getklocked.com, street address 915 S. Kimball St., Mitchell, SD 57301.

Not sure of any places in your area to send the tank off to.

But, what about a tank lift? We've had customers purchase them because they are inexpensive(under 43 bucks) and do give the tank a stretched look.

Here's an example pic:

The most popular choice is the 2", which is what you see in the pic above, but we offer them all the way up to 4".

Plus, getting the tank up off your engine allows more airflow to the engine, helping your bike run cooler.

Here's a LINK to our Sportser Tank Lifts.

This shop is reputable, does good work and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

They are in SoCal, ask for Ken the owner and fabricator.

Yep, this is a 'good question'. I'm very much surprised at the lack of tank styles when it comes to Sportsters. Thought for sure there'd be some steel or alloy XR style tanks available. But I've yet to find anything other than very expensive fiberglass tanks (I'm not at all a fan of fiberglass tanks).

There's aftermarket tanks that will probably be cheaper than a chop
of your tank. The 1200 Custom has a 4.5gal 'torpedo' style tank that
should be pretty much a direct swap (depending on the seat you have).

Here's a 'different' look on a 4gal tank on fleabay...
