Squeaked 35 miles out of my reserve (read: light had came on) before filling up. Only took 2.8 gallons to fill up from that point. Who knows....

Once again, if you have a fuel light, you don't have a reserve...and what a pitty.....NO PETCOCK!

15 miles does seem low, but I'm guessing as usually OFG is right on the money. Mine is pretty accurate. I usually get fuel just after hitting reserve, and it takes right at 2.5 gallons to fill the tank. But I have ran as far as 35 miles on reserve...Man, I was sweatin bullets. Freekin Natchez Trace Parkway...NO fuel stops!!

I have at least 60 miles on reserve. I have pushed it to the limit the last few days. On my way home, I hit reserve and rode for 60 miles before putting gas in da tank. 15 miles? Hmm.

Yeah, but you don't have a 3.3 gallon tank. That's what the thread was about.......Pass the bottle of Crown.

As other's have said, on carb'd models there is an actual baffle inside the tank, and a certain amount of fuel is 'trapped' in the smaller Reserve Section. There is a seperate fuel outlet for this reserve tank which is activated when you which your gas selector **** from "on" to "reserve".

The tank of fuel injected models to not have a seperate reserve section in the tank, and they do not have a seperate switch operated outlet for any reserve.

The EFI models only have a low fuel sensor light, the same as you have on your family car or truck.

Randy. I'm sure that a 3.3 tank on reserve has gotta have more than 15 miles.

Thanks for the clarification....for some reason (maybe because HD told me) I thought I had a reserve.
Makes sense though....[sm=boink3.gif]
