About three years ago, I did a 7 hour trip (one way)from Wheeling, WV to Abingdon, VA (near Bristol, TN) for an Easter weekend at the now ex-in-laws house with a bone stock 883. On the way there, I only stopped at every fill up. Weather was sunny and 60 degrees. However, on the way back, I had to stop about every 70 miles or so cause of the a$$ hurting too bad, and my cheaper plastic rain suit decided to loose a whole leg after only 45 miles in 40 degree steady rain. [:'(] Boy was that a cold and wet 8 hour trip back. I could have choked all the weather people that weekend...."Mostly sunny with only a 20% chance of Rain....It will be a hit and miss rain shower". Well the 20% chance of hit and miss rainwas actually a 100% chance of a steady rain forthe entireroute with no let up.Oh Well...That's still my longest trip to date.

Man you guys read my mind, I was just gonna post about me riding from Chicago, Il. to Hattiesburg, Miss. Never been over 200 mile in one trip yet and was wonderin if I would survive trip there and back on my 06 1200 C. Probably about 1800 miles round trip.

Thanks for the stories keep 'em comming.

Well I plan to take a trip to Gettysburg for the PA rally this summer, the whole windshield thing isn't a big deal since I ride full face. I guess the only thing left to do is register for the rally and pick out some bags!

Just for the record sleepneagle, that GA to AK trip is insane [sm=outcold.gif]

I think OFG said it best.

Three of usdrove from MN to FL and back in a Pinto. It can be done and it was OK, until I did it in a Galaxy. After doing the trip with more "comforts" it's hard to go back to bare bones. These days if I were to ride the sporty on a long cruise I'd be paying for it for days. Having a bagger makes it more pleasurable for me and recovery is much quicker.

1350 miles round trip from central Ca to central Or and back in 4 days last year. Doing the same trip in a few weeks with my best friend, and we both ride 2003 xl883c's. But gets a little sore, but it is not that bad.

I did 1,200 miles in 4 days all on back roads last summer. That was on stock seat, and no windshield. Four months later, and my butt was still numb, I bought my Sundowner seat. Then due to elbow issues, I had to get a Windshield for long distance High Speed trips. That really helps with the fatigue factor. I can now do 12 hours a day seat time with no problem.

I do however, immediately take that freekin Wennie Shield off as soon as I get to my destination.

My Brawler is very comfortable so I don't see a big issue there. But I will need to pick up somehighway pegsfor long tripswith my 6'6" as s.

I find if your butt gets sore throw your feet back on the rear pegs and ride it like a croch rocket for a while. gives the butt a little rest and puts your legs in a different position as well. Not the safest thing but it works for me.

Thats the advantage I have for being a chick - I get away with alot of chit (like if I leave the "weenie windshield" on for a few days........)
