Hey there everyone! Brand new to the forum so this'll be my first attempt at a post.
I just picked up a 2000 Sportster 1200 Custom a few months ago and have had no problems with it, until now.
From what I can see without removing any parts, there is oil slowly dribbling down my exhaust header. It looks like it is coming out of the exhaust port next to the pipe. Its never very much oil, but after 15 minutes of riding, the oil starts smoking from being on the hot pipe.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check to find the cause of the problem ?

 

try to post some pictures of the situation. oil leaks can be misleading

 

It may be worth looking at the rear rocker box and seeing if it is leaking. This might cause oil to drip onto the exhaust.
