Hi all,

Have a 95 XLH1200 and have been using a solo seat until now. Bought a nice two up for the lady and discovered the rear seat retaining nut is all messed up. PO must have done a number on it...can't get the seat screw more than a half turn before it gets stuck and yes, it is the correct thread (I have both 1/4 X 20 and 1/4 X 28 at home..neither will thread in).

I've found replacement mounting kits on JP cycles and Ebay, but all are either out of stock with at least a month wait or are in the UK and don't ship to US.

I'm wondering if anyone has installed a seat mount nut kit with the C clip on newer bikes on the older sportsters? Here is the product I'm thinking of

They are only about 3.00 at the dealer. See it your fender hole has a notch for the anti rotation "tit" on the lower part. If so, you are good to go. If not, take a small file and make you one. Put a tie wrap or a piece of wire and fish it up through fender, put the nylon clip on and youre done.
