Adjustable Brake Rod

Adjustable Brake Rod
I will be installing full floorboards on my sporty with mid-controls that I just got from DK Customs. The issue with this is the position of the brake pedal. I need to raise the pedal above the floorboards. To do this, I need to lengthen the brake rod.....and the issue with this is sportsters' brake rods are not adjustable. So there are two option in my opinion.
One is to make the existing brake rod adjustable. See delboy garage on fabricating an adjustable brake rod.
The other option is to buy an aftermarket shift rod with extensions like these which was one of the options offered by Kevin at DK:
Shifter rod
2" extension
3" extension
So the question here - has anyone fabricated or bought an adjustable rear brake rod to adjust the brake lever position?
I bought another factory brake rod in case I need to fab....and the shift rod with 2" and 3" extensions since don't know exactly how much adjustment is needed.

I made mine adjustable but its easier to do if you have access to a lathe.
I cut it, drilled and tapped both ends 1/4-20 then threaded a piece of stainless to thread in using a couple of nuts to lock it.
If you use right hand threads on each end like I did, then you do need to remove one end to adjust but that wasnt a problem for me

I thought it was 5/16...the shift rod has a 5/16 in. heim joint end and a ball joint end with a 5/16 in. -24 stud. Geez, I better do more research or fact-finding.

Been going back and forth with Kevin of DK Customs to determine the best way to extend the brake rod in order to get the brake lever to go above the floorboard.
The simplest way is to cut the rod in half and die each end, then add a coupling with nuts.
The cleanest way is to purchase a shift rod, an extension, and bolts.
Decided to go with the cleanest way which is also simple. Will post some pics when I am done.

The only issue with the simplest way that you mentioned is the spacing around the rod for the coupling.
