dent in 2004 sportster and up gas tanks
my bike has a dent in the top left tank where the handle bars hit it, does anyone else? I looked for replacement tanks, and notice a lot on ebay have the same dent in the top left, used tanks.. Took in into harley, they say the fork lock is broken and the down tube is not straight.. like someone ran it into a wall too hard he said.. I am the original owner and bought the bike, and it had a dent in the tank, new.. any information on any of this? Thanks

my bike is a roadster, with the peanut tank, I haven't seen the customs with this issue, just the roadster tanks. In multiple years as well, 2004, to like 2007 and 2008's// Used tanks for sale seem to have this dent.
It's odd , that I've had bought it new, had the dent and the paint at the time didn't seem to have any issues, now over time it has began to peel from there, but I was wondering if it was a shipping issue, a shop issue? Someone drove it into a wall before I got it? And why are the 1st several tanks I see on ebay have the same dent// Broken for lock, an easy thing to do?
Just annoyed as I have had it since day one, and also the handle bars, the left one is pulled down farther on the left side, makes me think they ratcheted the forks down too hard for shipping? I don't know, just sad, lol.. May take a lot of money to repair the stealer tells me, and a lot of, brother, it's not safe... I have been riding it for 13 years, no leaks, never really any problems, except for this.
