Good Day All, I have a question for everyone, I have a 05 1200C/carbureted, I have not used it an a long while, I decided to get it going again and now Im having problems with the bike staying on while in idle position. The last time I ran it I turned off the gas valve and kept it running till it just died out using all the gas in the carb bowl. I also had some gas in the tank with seafoam in it. It is smoking black a little bit when I have it running and revving it up, not sure if it is just burning the old gas. It sounds real good and doesn't sound like it needs any kind of mechanical work when it is running. I gave it a complete oil change before it sat. Any suggestions would really be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I'd start with new plugs and a fresh tank of gas with some seafoam and take it for a couple hundred mile run. If the problem persists then a carb disassemble and thorough cleaning is in order.

If you haven't "used it in a long time"....not sure what that may be, I would pull the carb and do a quick clean. You don't have to get crazy pulling everything out unless you want to readjust everything but that's up to you. It's like 6 bolts to get it off. Pull the bowl off and just spray carb cleaner around everywhere and in all the jets. Do the same for the throat and needle. Just clean it up nice.

Then dump the gas out and throw some fresh gas in there. If it still doesn't fire check for spark. If you have spark but still no joy, check timing. It has to be one of those things.
