Default My 883 isnt getting power from the ignition with the key in and in start position

My 08' HD XL883L is not getting power to anything. I put the key in the ignition and turn to the on/start position and it is not getting any power. the headlight is not coming on and no power to the odometer. A few months ago i bought anew battery and a trickle charger which i keep it plugged up to when im not riding. this has me stumped and i do not know what i need to check or where to start to check?

Check fuses. Also check your battery cables are attached securely at both ends.

Exclamation

You mention your 'trickle charger', which has me nervous! A proper 'trickle charger' provides a constant charge to a battery and can over-charge it in time, so I hope you do not have one. There are many options for a 'battery tender', which has built-in circuitry that monitors the condition of the battery while charging it and cuts the charge when not required. This is the type which IS suitable for leaving connected for long periods.

You don't have any power, by the sound of it. That could be as simple as a blown main fuse, or worn out ignition switch, or bad connections, as suggested above. However also check the condition of your battery. If your charger is indeed a trickle charger the poor thing may be dead!

Yes. . . check the main fuse and actually battery voltage for sure. If the headlight is on, it still could be the battery, ignition switch, or other connection

Also, check your battery connections. One could be cracked or damaged. They also need to be clean and free from corrosion.

I'd start with the battery make sure there's enough charge in it. Check fuses too like others said. Don't rule out the switch itself. If you have heavy *** keys it'll muff up the switch. I just had to replace mine a couple of weeks ago.
