Thinkin' about a Nightster or a 1200L. Besides the gap between the tank and the seat (don't know why that bothers me so much) I was wondering how you carry anything on a Nightster.
I know that they're kind've a barhopper but any of you that have one, what do you do for carrying gear? Where do you put it? That (besides that gap) is my only hangup.

While most bikes do well with added bags and such, that is probably the one thing about the Nightster that I think is a disadvantage. It's such a neat, trick looking bike that it would be a shame to hang stuffoff it but then, at the same timeit ends up being not much more than a bar hopper.

I got a fieldgear magnetic tank bag that I stick to the fender, its big enough to carry the important stuff and it doesn't deter from the looks of the bike. Magnetic bags are probably the best bet withoutthings looking hooky. Not a big fan of leather cowboy looking saddlebags; for one I am not a cowboy and second there is something weird aboutcarrying saddlebags over your shoulder like you just came off the range.
Your gonna need somekind of bag unless you don't mind sitting on your wallet for hours or filling your pockets full of junk only too loose something.

One of the Harley wrench-turners at the local store has a nightster. He has some HD throw-overs and they look surprisingly good. No support brackets.
Me I plan on getting the black solo rack and a round bag for my trip. Also a fork bag.
Now, I use carry my Lappy back and forth in a back pack. Or a messenger's back slung across my back.
As for the gap, man that is one of the coolest things about the N. Check out some old bike pics on google images. You will see why it is there. My Mustang seat gets rid of the gap, which I am sad about.
EDIT: HERE is the rack I am talking about.
