Not sure what you're describing...are you saying it seems like it's skipping a gear when you take off or is itdying out from a dead standstill? that might be carb related..has it been re-jetted? Have you checked your fuel lines and tank for debris?

Don't know crap about it but should take it in. Why? Because we are riders and your best bet is taking it to a professional or go to that part of the forum.

Just because you don't know jack, doesn't mean everyone else here has the same limitations.

Why? Because we are riders
We may all be riders but the more talented of us here do our own wrenching.

your best bet is taking it to a professional or go to that part of the forum.
Since at this point, spitnsport75 doesn't know if his problem is electrical, carb, clutch etc., how would he know which topic specific area to go to for help.

In keeping with your own advice, your endless muffler & baffel threads belong in the "Engine Related" topic area. All posts about guitars belong in the "Off Topic" area and when you get back from vacation, your comments and pics from the trip should be posted in the "Road Trip" section.

Your comments to a relative new member are uncalled for and let eneryone know how little you know.

Since you use both the words "jumps" & "hesitates" we need a little more info. Does this only occur from a dead stop or when rolling in first gear? Is there any hesitation crusing at about 2500 - 3000 rpm and you slam the throttle wide open?

To eliminate the clutch, when the bike hesitates, does the engine rpm drop or rise? If the clutch is slipping the rpm will rise. If the engine bogs when the hesitation occursclutch slippage is not the problem.

cHarley its more like the bike hesitates but only from a stop. The engine doesnt rev high so i know its not clutch. it will take off and then its like it skips a heart beatand then good again.

Celtlion, really not sure if carb has been re-jetted. anyway to tell? And no it doesnt die just skips a beat and good again.
I really appreciate the help guys!
and thanks for coveren my back..lol

Re-jetting the stock carb is common and necessary these days due to EPA regulations, but since yours is a 91 the stock jet size should not be causing this problem. The EPA wasn't screwing with bikes up back in 91. Not knowing the history of your bike and if it was stored at some point with unstabilized fuel or not leads me to recommend cleaning the carb just to eliminate that possibility. Also check all vacuum lines for leaks or cracks. If they look old or dry replace them. A leaky vacuum line can affect the ignition timing advance, especially when transitioning from idle speed.

Here is a link that details the location & replacement to the jets in case you want to pull them and verify their size.
