I did both on top, upward. This is where it needed it the most.
and both on bottom, downward.

it was a pain, since that's heavy metal.
Also when I put them back on, I used a wooden wedge to keep them separated will I tightened down all the fasteners.

hope that helps.

I agree with the idea of modifying the bracket to get the pipes to fit. Come to find out the '14 and up models changed the exhaust port angle, at least thats what I was told by another manufacturer of pipes. I am trying to make a decision.... crap or get off the pot, right? Ill update you, but i need to return one set of pipes to V&H, the other set I either return to Dennis Kirk and possibly switch to Rinehart Cross Backs, or modify bracket. Any suggestions either way?

I must say though, Dennis Kirk was very helpful and customer service rocks! V&H, customer service was good, sent me another set of pipes, but would not admit that the pipes would not fit properly on my bike. Seems strange, and if i purchased another set from them if the exhaust port has changed angles as i was told, then another set would not fit either. Tried to tell me that aftermarket parts on the bike would cause pipes not to line up, and or damage to frame would cause this issue. How? All mounting hardware is on motor, remove motor and put on bench, mount pipes as per directions, same issue, right? Kinda disappointing if true.

This was not a big deal to fix, and I like the pipes.

Not sure about this, never heard anything to indicate that it may be. I've been hanging around these forums for a while.

The Rinehart Cross Backs, nice looking pipes, but I'd wonder about burning my leg, (vertically challenged or just plain short).
