I want to add highway pegs to my '17 Iron w/o a huge crash bar. I want them blacked out and non obtrusive. Deciding between HD's, which are chrome, but dealer said they would sandblast the chrome off for me to paint or powder coat, & DK's stealth mounts, which are black, more adjustable, and less $, but don't look quite as good IMO. However, before doing this, I realized I have to ditch the ham can that came with the 1,200 upgrade and get a smaller diameter round unit. *(Several techs at dealership told me the 90' angle type makes a flicker type noise when sucking in air)? OK fine, so I narrowed the round ones down to a handful that I think are cool looking b/c many on these threads say that they all do the same thing, and all take in more air flow than I can use. I just find the "all are the same" concept can't possibly be true? There must be "some" difference? Does anyone have any opinions on these units: Arlen Ness Inverted, Kuryaken Mach II, RSD Blunt, RSD Turbine, S.E. Performance Rail, & V&H Grenades Matte Black? I sure would appreciate opinions on these (&/or the hwy. peg mounts). Thanks.

 

I am runnng the chrome Arlen Ness Deep Cut Inverted Big Sucker. The black version IMHO has just enough brushed to give it good contrast with a black bike. It is pricey for an AC but made well. It appears you want an entirely black bike....it's a personal preference. DK Customs makes a completely discrete external breather for the Arlen Ness Inverted Big Sucker.

These are inexpensive and come in black. Not sure what size downtube we have....1 1/4"? Also not sure if they're long enough so your leg is not being grilled. I've been thinking about these as hwy pegs but VERY low on my priority list. If you get them, let us know how they work,...or don't work.

I'm not sure if those will work b/c i don't know the diameter of my down tubes, but ill bet cvaria knows. cvaria? Also, will they be long enough? Need to clear the ham can.
