Dino oil starts to break down at temps of 240 degrees. Synthetic is good for Florida riding. I live in Florida and have seen oil temps of 265 when riding on interstate for a few hours. I use synthetic in my engine and formula + in primary/tranny.

In our environment you can't go wrong with synthetic in engine. Your preference for your riding environment

It`s the old stuff the Air Force used years ago...

I think all modern military and civilian jet engines are using 23699.

Hmmmm....I`m wondering if the OP wanted to know what to use in his motorcycle, if so he should have gone to the OIL SECTION OF THE FORUM.

The problem with recommending that is the Oil Section is full of responses from Big Twin folks (the majority here), most of which are clueless when it comes to 2 holes vs 3.

I'm a retired army helicopter pilot. In 1990, when I retired, 23699 was used in our turbine engines and 7808 was used in our transmissions. When I first came into the army in 69, 7808 was used in the engines. It was changed to 23699 in the engines in the 70s if my old brain and memory are still working properly

Every fool knows there are three holes, but only two are worth the trouble. 🙄

Sorry your getting all these stupid responses. There's nothing wrong with an oil thread. Go to XL Forum and sign up and ask and they will be much more help.
I check in here once in a while but if you love Sportsters go to the XL forum
