the scary part is 15 min before the accident I had stopped to put a sweat shirt on and had to take off my helmet to get it over my head. I was almost going to put the helmet in my saddle bag, but for some reason put it back on instead. I live in NY which has a helmet law but was riding in CT. which does not have a helmet law, good thing I thought better of it and put it back on. This afternoon I had to go to my docter because one of the atibiotics the gave me I was having an allergic reation to. Went into the garage to get into my wife's car so she could drive me and I saw the empty spot where my Sporty is usally parked and felt like crying. Riding in the car I could hear Harleys that I could not even see and that made me feel worse too. The insurance adjusted the claim will be settled by the middle od next week, so when I feel up to I will start shopping for a new one.

Thanks everyone for all you thoughts and prayers.

Going back with a Sporty? Any ideas how this will affect the old insurance? If you did not go through Harley for insurance before, be sure and give them a shot this time. All my crap house, truck, jeep, wife's wedding ring policy is all with State Farm... but when I asked them to quote my bike, they shot me like $700 a year!!! Harley hooked me up with Progressive for $261 a year with all maxed out coverage... hell that cheap why not max it out?

Good luck with your new round of ABs. Keep your head up, I have lost a vehicle close to me before as well, and it is very disheartening.

I was using Progressive for my insurance they have been very helpful so far with the claim. I should have raised my accessory coverage mine covered 1k of accessories. When my wifw added up all the receipts for stuff I put on the bike it was around 1700 worth of accessories. The Progressive rep handling my case said I could pull off some of the undamaged accesories I don't want to include in the claim. The windshield is a loss, the Mustang seat is torn and the Short Shots the front pipe is damaged by the down tube of the frame. I am going to have my friend take off the Skull AC insert, the Skull timing cover and derby Skull cover I saves all the original covers. I am also taking the detachable Sissy bar. I was probably was only going to keep the Sportster for another year any way and replace it with a Road King. Most of the riding I do is 2-up with other friends on their BT Harleys. Depending how the claim works out and I would like to get a Standard Softail or a Dyna. If that does not work out I know I would be happy with a 1200C. My son is starting college this fall and so right now the Road King will have to wait.

The prescription label on my pain medicene says it is "OXYCODONE W/APAP' I take 2 pills every 4-5 hours. I can tell when the meds are running out I can't even out of bed to go to the bathroom without help. With the meds at least I can get around the house on my own.
