I don't wear one, but it would give you a place to store your gas cap whilst refueling.

As other have said vest is a great place to store your gear at.

On a side note, I went into a Hobby Lobby yesterday with my black leather vest on. Geez you should of seen the looks I received, one Guy even pulled his daughter in closer. LOL

 

Maybe it wasn't the vest.

 

I get free coffee when I go to Starbucks if I'm wearing my vest.

 

I wear on on long rides when it's too hot to wear a riding jacket. Flapping t-shirts for a few hours can get annoying. Plus I can put my CCW and my wallet in it for more comfort.

 

Two words: Gun holster
