Hammer 1275cc for street use??

C'mon guys, work with me here!
Repeat after me: "Aaron is an *******. Call Dan instead."
No seriously, I won't get into the specifics on any particular situation in an online forum. That's a no-win. All I'll say is that I do my best to help everyone. My best isn't always enough, I'll readily admit that. And I also always try to do what's best for the business, too. Sometimes, in my judgment, passing on a sale is the best thing for the business, for various reasons. It's rare, but it happens. Dan is the same way. If we see red flags, we'll pass.

Hey guys, I'm new on the forum i dont know the rules yet but I assume we just ask and everybody participate on the thread?
I'm thinking of getting the hammer 1275cc kit to replace the busted cylinders and pistons on my 2002 XLH1200, but I don't know if it's just for racing? Or will it work just fine as a powerful daily Rider on the city and the ocationally highway?? And what about longetivity??
Thanks,

I'm sure that it was a justified decision. I don't know how old this person is but if he's fairly young I can understand their decision to not sell to him as a favor to him. I once had this 18 year old kid show up to look at and test ride a R1 that I was selling. When he showed up and I saw how young he was I wouldn't even consider selling the bike to him cause I couldn't live with the thought of him getting killed on a bike that I sold him.

One little example. One Saturday morning, I get an email from a customer. He can't get his bike started. It was an 04-06. Between Saturday morning and Sunday night, I wrote to him a total of 13 times. Each time making suggestions and asking questions (compression? spark? fuel? etc). Almost every question went unanswered, he was too sure it was the wrong path. I would suggest he try something and never get any feedback on it. Meanwhile he was going on a different path and giving me irrelevant information. So it was a pretty frustrating experience. Finally, Sunday night, I had run out of suggestions and run out of patience in trying to get answers. I told him I'm sorry, I don't know why your bike won't start, to which his response was that he suspected the kit was bad and he expected better customer service than I had provided.
So tell me, what other company would answer a guy 13 times, over the course of a weekend, trying to help him solve his problem? With basically zero cooperation from him?
Several days later we got an email from him asking something else, I can't even remember what, but it indicated he got his bike running. He never bothered to tell me what the issue was. Too embarrassed I'm sure.
That's probably the single most frustrating part of customer service: guys who expect you to just know what's wrong, from descriptions of symptoms explained over email. Troubleshooting by email is not a perfect process, and it also relies on the person on the other end actually listening to your suggestions and opening his mind to the possibility that what you're saying could be correct. Too often, people are too sure "that can't be it" and they discount what you have to say. And then when you run out of ideas and suggestions, they accuse you of providing poor customer service. I've about had enough of it, I'm ready to retire.
