That's double the cost of the Micro EFI tuner though. Since posting this, I have considered my options for keeping my stock AC cover and I may go with a K&N kit. I don't plan on going past Stage 1 though at all. I tried the XiEDs and didn't notice anything, but I'm not sure how much more the Micro EFI tuner does over the XiEDs?

it's easy for some of us to say, "oh go buy x and y". i'm guilty of it but, i can remember a time where blowing $400 on a anything but a roof over my head seemed like a huge deal. so i'll say hold off. it's really not that big of a must. ride and enjoy

The Fuel Moto Micro is perfect for what you want to do. I had very good luck with the FM Micro running a Stage 1 .
It will help a stock bike run better. It will also allow you to pre-load maps for your future upgrades. As you add upgrades a quick turn of the dial and you're ready to go.
Best damn tuner for $300. At $200 it's a steal compared to the limited dealer download.
The XIED's are crap for later model Sportsters. I tried them and resold them here.Still feel guilty as hell for selling them instead of throwing them in the trash.

I'm glad to hear from someone who has used XiEDs and the Micro EFI Tuner. I also sold the XiEDs on here. I know the XiEDs only add more fuel. I know the Micro EFI Tuner is limited in what it does, but what did you like about it over the XiEDs? What dials can you adjust?

The tables can be changed every 250 rpm to add or subtract fuel as needed.
Same as the Power Commander. Unlike the Power Commander the rpm limit can't be extended. Not a big deal for general riding unless you like to push the revs to the limit.

Storing 3 selectable maps is nice. Along with quick tuning with a small screwdriver to add or subtract fuel across 3 rpm bands. Lets you experiment without having to hook up to a computer.

Free unlimited map support is another great feature. Allows you to get as many maps as you like.

Some people on here have more money then common sense will tell you to buy the very best. Wish we all had that option in life. Buy what you can afford to get the job done as you please.
I've owned over 30 motorcycles since I've been riding. Just bought a new left over Kawasaki Vaquero for less then a Sportster 1200. Could have bought a big HD touring rig, but I prefer to save the $14,000+++ and ride what I bought. Damn thing is a beast and the best bike I've ever bought. Full 3 year warranty and comes with it's own couch.

Buy the FM Micro and once you get the right map, you won't touch it again.
Even the high $$$$$$units need to be dialed in to get the bike to perform right.

Its not limited at all is a mini powercommarder. It will work great is just that for your parts its not needed as much.

There should be a sticky on this its gotta be the #1 question a new sporty owner ask. It was mine. When I got my 08 xl1200c last year it came with V&H long shot slipons and it ran rough at low rpms. My first EFI bike, I about had a heart attack when I asked around and was told I had to get it dyno'd after shelling out for the bike. Then having to wrap my brains around Vieds, mirotuners, serts, PV's etc. The old lady was like "your obsessed with this make up your mind". It would be great if there was a sticky where users of all the different types of fuel management devices and tuners could post there experiences. Well its almost warm enough to head out. Ride safe!!!

Oh and btw imo the micro efi tuner is really not a tuner its a step up from the Xied's.
