Yeah, the "new" location in front of the axle and below the swing arm looks like it could catch hell from rocks, dirt, etc...

I agree, the placement of the rear caliper is a bit sketchy. To correct this I'll need to consider a possible stock set-up that mounts above the swingarm.

I'm open to suggestions

How about a stock set-up?
or any other small single-pot that will fit up in there?
Surely braking power is sufficient, being the rear.
​​​​​​​Or go really old school with a drum hub.

Anyone have an idea what years will work one my 87?? I'm referring to a stock HD caliper and bracket.
