Default 4.5 tank lift on an iron

last spring I tried to put a tank lift on, after going to a 4.5 tank on my iron. The frame of my iron hits the part of the tank pointed out in the picture, its basically where the fuel pump goes. I don't know if the tank has a defect or if its the way its made. I think I tried a 1.5" lift that didn't work.

I went to a 2.5" from 2" and had no problems at all. I didn't know a 4.5 even even existed! Got a pic of that badboy?!

I screwed up my title up. It's a 4.5 gallon tank on an iron. I want to lift it

Tallest one we make is a 4".

With your 4.5 gallon tank, a 2" or 2.5" should get you the clearance you need.

See how to check clearance HERE.

I installed a 4.5 gallon OEM tank on my 2013 Iron. It fits like a glove. Either yours is defective or it is aftermarket.

It came off a 09 sportster with a couple of small dents. It does fit without my 1.5" lift. I guess I'll try a 2" or 2.5" lift.

The problem is the fuel pump mount is kicking the tank to the left when I lift it to install a tank lift. This throws the tank off center
