Default Clutch cable leak at primary case

Hey guys! I've never used a forum before but I'm so baffled by my bike and this mystery leak!! So I put on some 12 inch mini apes on my iron 883 so I had to switch out for a longer clutch cable.

Once I got everything adjusted and the clutch was working correctly I come home from my ride and I'm leaking primary fluid.
After cleaning everything and finding the leak at the clutch cable end where it connects to the primary case I figured it was the o ring....

I replaced the o ring and used a thread sealant, BUT ITS STILL LEAKING.
It almost feels As if the nut isn't tightened all the way to the case but it just backs off whenever it rotates.

Has anybody had this same problem???

It should snug up to the case. Are you screwing it in with the cable laying on the floor stretched out straight? You have to spin the whole cable as you tighten it down. Then fish it up through however you need to, to connect it to your clutch handle. Also be extremely careful not to strip the threads by cross threading. I did that by accident and then I had that job to fix.

That's a very common part to strip the threads on, your sure it's not stripped?

Agree on the easy to strip....use a new O ring. Snug with your fingers. Then a quarter turn with a wrench. That's all it takes. If it's stripped it'll leak. Then you need to Heli-coil. Or replace the primary cover.

Sometimes depending how you have routed the cable they can leak at the part where the cable goes into the metal sleeve, its happened to me, and it looks like its leaking from the O-ring.

You should be able to do helicoil. You drill the hole a little bigger. But a new primary will work too. Just be careful this time!!!!

^ +1, I have used them a lot and they work great, I can't imagine that it's stripped enough that a coil wouldn't work.
