Thanks all. On the recommendations for the softtail, I can actually afford them it's just a personal preference. I've had the opportunity to ride a few softails and just never really enjoyed it compared to my smaller bikes. I'm in a really **** position where I'm drawn to sporty, snappy, agile bikes but need to have comfort for the wife. Basically I want the impossible lol. It does sound like most people think a nice seat and back rest will make a difference. I'll have her sit on the back of one with me this weekend to test room. We're both pretty compact so hope that helps. I'll also get more curious on suspension, although most people seem to think it won't be an issue on the roadster:

my wife and I ride our "72" sportie all the time, I have a high hippie sissy bar that goes up past her middle back and I adjust the shocks to setting 4 or 5 depending on how much gear we have or camping stuff. Since the stock "72" is a solo seat I bought a Bitwell HB, she always has something bad to say about it as her part of the seat is about 5.5in wide but she enjoys the ride. Also having the 2.2 tank we are looking for a gas station every hour or so on our long trips, which gives her a 5min break to get off and walk around. On our day trips we will put a sheep skin on top of the seat and that really helps when you are 300+ miles from home, plus it makes a good pillow.

we are going to the myrtle beach bike week for a few days which will be about 900miles round trip on that seat

disclaimer: we are both 24, I'm about 5-10,164lbs and shes is 5-10,145lbs

on a 08 Roadster here, and we ride 2Up about 50% of the time.
5'10 205, and 5'2" 125
Came from the PO with a set of Hagon shocks, and better fork springs. Wife said it was ok, but needed something for her rear to sit on, '2up sportster' seat was just a pad on the fender. So I got the Sundowner 2up seat, and modded it cause it sat too high for me, she likes the extra padding and Wider seat too. Swapped the Hagons for Progressive 12.5" 412s and we can ride for about an hour before her *** starts to hurt.
