Default '84 Ironhead, can't find a float for Keihin carb!

Hello, I just recently bought my first harley - a 1984 Sportster XLX1000. I am rebuilding the carb with my dad, and we need to replace the float. I've called my local harley dealer, tried JP Cycles, and google searched like crazy and it seems no one anywhere is selling this float! Anyone else have this issue? Or at the very least some tips on how to find it? Strange I just figured you could "find anything" online these days with ease...

Welcome to the forum
Try PJ Motofsports or JetR us

Keihin is a Jap made racing carb H-D used for about 15 to 18 years , a good carb , just not many people understood it --they rebuilt it and not doing a good job their work failed and they through the carb in the trash . what they missed is a small O-ring and washer under the Idle mixture screw , the O-ring would dry up and get hard and allow air the seep past
To really make that carb sweet go to J&P and order the Hi- Flow acc. pump and the adjustable main Jet , for $40 that's nice , use a non floating drill bit to drill holes
Stay on this site --- someone will have a float

Thanks. I got really excited about those two websites, they looked promising, but they only had the carb parts for japanese bikes listed - no HD. It's so strange, it's like there is no record anywhere on the internet connecting the Keihin Carb parts to Harley Davidson. Same thing with eBay. Tons of Keihin carb parts - for only Jap bikes.

You might have to call them as being a Jap carb it was also used on many other bikes as well . A carb number will be hard to find . sweet talk the people to help you out
I've never heard of one of those floats going bad ??? A hole ?? is there gas inside if you shake it ??

I'm sure H-D did not want to let a lot of people know that they were using Jap parts back then

Probably could make a brass float if you send him the original.

Is the float brass? Put a picture on here. It's configuration just may be able substituted.
