RE: Respect
I just wanted to add that my friend that bought the 1200 Custom...I talked her into buying that instead of the Softtail Deluxe she was looking at. Not because she is a woman, but because the Sportster is a hell of a lot better bike for the money and for what she was using the bike for (riding to work, riding around town, etc). I also told her that I would not be afraid to put that bike on the road for an extended trip as well.

I've been at the TN HOG rally all week. We have overe 3,000 Harleys here, and of course most are big-twin bikes. No one has given me any crap about riding a Sporty.
Quite the contrary!!
But that's a long story, that I will include in a TN HOG recap post at the conclusion of the Rally. I've been having a blast, much more fun than I anticipated. I'm just taking a short pause from the Rally this morning, needed to do some catch up work here.

Same here, never had anyone say anything derogatory about mine, in fact the Tim Hortons I go to for lunch quite a bit usually has 10 or more bikes in the parking lot of all brands. I watch people walk down the line of HD baggers & Goldwings and they often stop and look at mine, most common coment is "that must be one of those sportster models, looks like fun"
