You know what I am really thinking of doing mine also all the chrome I added to my bike it stands out to much it is like a brushed nickleon mine.Do you think that can be buffed out.

 

Also how was the paint under the piece on the tank.

 

I removed mine last night, used dental floss to cut through and WD40 to get the tape off. Paint under the strip was fine.

Tank looks much better with out the strip. I think I will check out the flush cap from Kuryakyn.

 

Been wanting to remove that tin strip since I bought my 05 1200 custom 2 years ago but didn't know how.Thanks to you guys followed your instructions and bingo took mine off last night in about 20 minutes.Not one mark anywhere and what a difference in looks.AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I did mine today I like the look but I don't know if I scratched the tank a little bit while doing it or it was already scratched under the strip it is right in the middle and it is going to annoy the hell out of me.I tried to buff it out but it is there to stay.So I guese I will be buying the chrome strip from harley now .really sucks 125.00

 

I have the black 05 1200c with the silver pinstripes as well.....would love to see some pics before and afters or just afters if anyone has any...the dull look of the strip really looks cheap in my opinion....thanks guys.
