don just spray the wd40 on the lin it works better as for the tape on the tank i used rubbing alcohol

 

What can we do about the gas cap? I can't really see what it looks like in the picture. Does it stick up too high now? Is there a lower profile cap you can buy?

 

Looks great from what I can see. I've got the same question. Do you have a closer shot of the gas cap?

 

If you want to see what the cap looks like without it, take a look at the 883 Custom (I believe they use the same caps).

I don't like the look of it too much either, and it's not even chrome!

 

Mine looks crooked. The alignment of the gas cap/metal strip vs speedo doesn't line up. I just noticed this after looking at mine considering removing it.

I just had my 1000 mile service. I wonder if they had to lift the gas tank to make any adjustments. I would think the gas tank would have to be replaced in the exact same location. I haven't looked too closley at it yet.

The speedo looks centered between the bars.

No telling............puzzled.

 

I like the idea of using the flush mount fuel cap.
Only possible negative I could see would be water maybe getting down to where it would enter the tank when the cap is removed, but then I haven't seen one on a harley.
I made keys for a triumph that had recessed gas caps and the owner told me that was his only complaint on the bike.

 

I did mine this morning. Super easy!

 

I have thought about this, and think I should keep mine on. I have the silver pinstrip on the tank... I think it would look goofy... what do you guys think?

Kuryakyn made a flush mount gas cap, you can also find the pop up one on ebay.

 

Jim, I think it would look good on your bike if you removed it. But it's your ride.
