Harbor Freight 1500lb jack with coupon was like $60. Does everything an average user could really want.

well i bought the Craftsman yellow. spent a while finding the best location under the bike to balance it. The pads do no line up with the frame mounts. I may look at making an adapter to line things up. right now i have it jacked up and with the straps is pretty stable. Sounds like the J&S is one of the best but i got this Yellow for $170 so we'll see how it goes.

Yeah I paid a lot for my J&S and I think it is worth every penny. Fits the frame perfectly and is VERY stable. I can move it around with out worry of the bike falling. You get what you pay for. Taking care of my bike is worth it to me.

I have to agree, the J&S is super stable, you can move your bike around, and it fits perfect. No need for modifications to get it to work with your bike. I gulped hard when I saw the price, but I have multiple bikes and the J&S replaced 2 other lifts. The J&S lifts them all, No regrets.

Thick cardboard is a really good insulation to sit or lay on when working on your bike and a simple 2"x4" rack or pipe and 2"x8" lift (google $20 motorcycle lift) to hold the bike vertical completes a good inexpensive work environment. The hydraulic lifts usually do not fit well and sooner or later begin to leak down.

I have this in my garage right now and it works great for all but my big decked out Road Glide:

http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb...ift-68892.html

I changed the front wheel chock and it works great, and raises the bike up about 30" off the floor. If you use a super coupon like I did you can get it for about 275.00 dollars. It takes up some room in the shop but the bike is in the air, secure and easy to work on.
