Otherwise you can buy new headers but now you're spending $$$ on a totally new exhaust system. The crossover style 2-2 and the 2 into 1 systems do seem to perform better in the low-mid range than 2-2 drag style pipes.
It's really not about money. I just wasn't sure if I need the crossover. Like I said, this is the newest Harley I've owned. If the crossover is needed I'll sell these slip ons and get the right ones. I ran drag pipes with my last 2 Sportsters.

An X-Pipe or and exhaust H-Pipe are at the heart of a performance system and bolted in the center of the car. Also known as a crossover pipe, each system works by balancing the exhaust pulses from either side—or cylinder bank of a V-style engine. The result is a smooth exhaust flow and a more efficient engine.

Here is a thread with some information on crossovers....as with any forum, you will need to decipher fact from opinion.

Like JimmyL said,..it helps balance out the exhaust for better performance. There are some great high performance exhaust systems that don't have crossover systems because they have other designs that provide similar or better benefit. But to just "by pass" the crossover with a 2-2 type system with no real performance mufflers will deteriorate performance. You could do it,..but you would not want to.

Hope that answers your question.

No you do not need to run or keep the crossover pipe. This is according to the Techs at Bassani and the folks at Revzilla. I know because I have a 2013 1200c that I installed the Bassani Firepowers on ( which I love) The Bassani's do not have a crossover it worried me until I made some phone calls. They have been on for about 200 miles now and no problems.

Obviously, you can either return/sell the slipons without crossovers and get one for your year bike or purchase the mounting brackets for the slipons your have. There are many bikes running aftermarket exhausts without crossovers.
